Reflection 7: My Experience with Powtoon

Hello everyone!

 This week, we pretty much use the time we had in our class to explore and play around with Powtoon in order to finish our video assignment. Let me tell you one thing, it's easy to use Powtoon if and only if...you follow a certain rule and make sure you have a good internet connection. If you don't, it's going to be terribly difficult to finish up the video that you are going to make.

Let's talk about the rules of using Powtoon. Based on my experience along these 2 weeks, the first rule that you want to follow is to make sure that you have the story of you upcoming video drafted and most importantly; your voice, to be recorded. If you make the amateur mistake of making the video using the Powtoon first, you'll face the risk that some of classmates faced - you might have to redo the video afterwards ( trust me, you don't wanna spend another several hours of your time re-editing the video again and again!)

After you have your audio recorded and uploaded on Powtoon, you are free to be as creative as you can to make your video . Of course, during the first few day, I was so excited to create my own video that I forgot some of the 'characters' and 'applications' on the website are ones you have to pay. But, fret not dear readers, you are free to use and download your video with the premium characters and applications within the first few days of the trial period. Well, if you are someone who is like me  ( a tad cheapskate ;) ) , you might wanna finish your work before the end of the trial period.  If you don't mind to pay however, the essence of time is at your side. 

For a computer novice like me, Powtoon is something which is fairly easy to use once you get used to it. I was irritated with the website at first ( but of course, that was due to my poor internet connection and lack of computer skills) , but once I get the hang of it ( and the absolute good internet connection), it was quiet fun and I actually enjoyed working on it with my friends. The animations, objects and the characters in the website help me to bring out my visualization into something which is fun to watch. Reflection 3: Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) and ESL

Hello again!  So, in this entry, I am going to share with you about what I have learnt on topic Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) and ESL. From the lesson, I’ve learnt that CMC is basically a ‘glittering term’ to explain interaction between people via separate computer through network connection. It’s literally a term to explain about what you and I have been doing for as long as we have internet – e-mail, WhatsApp; well, you get the idea. Interestingly, CMC has been adapted and used in education starting 1980’s to 1990’s (I was borne in 1990’s!) – what started as email and forum back then makes it possible for us now to have mediums for genuine communication, even distant learning to help in our own education. Reflection 12 (13th Post) : Test and Final Touch on Courseware Project

Hey Everyone! It’s the final week!!!!!!!! So, this week is the submission week for our SmartBuilder project. At this point, all that is left do is the final touch of our project. I’ve finish my part and all my groupmates have finished theirs too, so, we just need to standardize, compile, polish and do several trial runs on the software to make sure that it works properly. Before I ramble on the courseware – this week is also the week where we have to sit down for our test. Let me tell you- the test is no joke, especially to one who is positively climbing her way to learn about technology (especially – me!). Thankfully, I did my homework 2 nights before and I studied with my friends.
