Reflection 8: Canva and Smart Builder - My Experience with the Notorious Two (Maybe one)
Hey everyone,
This week is the week of exploring - I've learnt about the two notorious two called Canva and Smart Builder.
Canva basically is the place where you could design anything from resume to postcard to poster and banner, even magazine cover; and have them looking similarly good as one done through software you have to download in your PC. Previously, I always used Canva to design some posters for my programs (clubs, course and initiatives outside of college), but I've never had to use it to design an informational chart. We have to design an informational chart today; I didn't manage to finish it before the lesson ended because I had trouble shaping up the idea that I had in my mind. It's not perfect and it might not have those edgy-designers-style on it, but, this is my canva design:
Though I had an easier time with Canva, the same couldn't be said with the more notorious SmartBuilder! From my understanding, SmartBuilder is a software that helps you in making an interactive courseware that would enable your students to learn without the presence of a teacher (obviously, it acts as supplementary to children's education, not sole source of education).
We learnt to use 'button' and 'page' and how buttons could help to direct your users to move from one page to another. My first attempt was superbly hilarious - I couldn't do it at all! I was slightly confused with all the buttons in the software, though after getting used to it, I started to get the hang of it.

Do you notice all those buttons at both side of the bar? ( I was confused as well!) |
Overall, the lesson was fun ( though the class was noisy- I have to say) and I actually learnt some robotic stuff today ( for a dinosaur like me - that's a massive achievement!). Hopefully, with all those lessons, my group-mate and I could design a courseware ; something good enough for the students to learn.
That's it for today's blog. See you !
