Reflection 9: SmartBuilder - Hotspot and Audio
![]() |
The feeling I had each time my experimentation on SmartBuilder project works- it's exhilarating ! |
Hey everyone,
See that guy? That's me , figuratively. This week, I pretty much learnt and experience how to use hotspot and insert an audio in our project using the SmartBuilder. I wouldn't say I am an expert in those two things, and even though I may have a slight diagnosis of 'dinosaur disease' over technological stuff; I tried my very best to learn.

See that 'hotspot' and 'audio' button ? |
Hotspot helps us to direct our story board from one page to another without using the 'button' application like we used to. Basically, what we do is sort of highlighting the picture/any image in our page so that when the users rolled their mouse nearby the image, the image would sort of gives a hint to direct them to click on it. And when they do (click on it), wallaa...they are on the other page!
When I tried implementing hotspot on my personal project the first time - I failed. Now, the tricky part for all first timers like me is the wording or the programming part of the software so that the project appear the way I want it to be on the web. When I did my hotspot the first time, I mistook my base in the wording with the 'sphere' - the other object I had in my project which cover the original image I wanted to use for my hotspot. Needless to say, my first attempt didn't work. Only after I realized what and where is my mistake is, did I finally manage to correct my wording and there you go, my hotspot worked!
The audio on the other hand ; somehow, even though I had my wording and properties right, my second attempt on implementing audio on my project didn't work (weirdly, my first was okay). My lecturer said it was probably because I was doing 2 projects simultaneously and the flow of my page just got disturbed and confused as to where my 'master page' actually should go and be implemented so that the audio could play. I decided to close one of my project and implement the 'master page' to the flow that I had in one particular project. True enough, my audio worked afterwards.

This is the 'wording' that I meant |
During the rest of the lesson, my group-mate and I had a discussion on personalizing the storyboards for our courseware. We decided to design a lesson under the topic - under the sea (one of the topic under KSSR for primary school students). It's an ongoing project and we are still working on it, hopefully someday soon, I could share about the project here in this blog.
I think that's it for this week's blog. See you again next week!
